What is oil mist?

Oil mist takes place during processing with pure oil as a cooling lubricant.

Oil mist can be described as a large amount of fine airborne oil drops or liquid particles, which occur either via circulation due to the machining process or discharge from the high pressure liquid nozzles.

Oil mist results from turning, milling, drilling and grinding with oil as well as processing with minimal quantity lubrication.

What is emulsion mist?

Emulsion mist takes place when processing with water mixable cooling lubricants. Emulsion mist can be described as a large amount of fine airborne liquid particles, which occur either via circulation due to the machining process or discharge from high pressure liquid nozzles.

Emulsion mist results from turning, milling, drilling and grinding with water mixable cooling lubricants.

Smokey Oil /Smoke

What is smokey oil / smoke?

Smoke can arise due to high cutting speeds, higher feed rates , large cutting depths with pure oil or water mixable coolants with high percentage of oil.

Smoke can be described as a very large amount of fine airborne,  mostly dry particles, which occur via burning during the machining process.

Smoke is often produced when turning hard materials, milling, rough machining etc. and CAN take place when processing with minimal quantity lubrication.

Welding Fumes

During welding, a fume mixture out of gas and dust is prduced.

Dust

Occurs during dry processing and normally consists of large quantities of coarse dry particles. Dust arises, for example from grinding, polishing and grinding when welding.
